Mount Bromo Ijen Crater Adventure Itinerary :
Day 1: Arrival
You will be collected from Surabaya Airport or your hotel around noon in a private car for the 4 hour drive to the Mount Bromo area. Explore the village at your own pace and pick a local restaurant for dinner. Be sure to get an early night, you’re in for some very early starts in the next few days.
Day 2: Mt Bromo Sunrise Tour – Ijen crater Area
Adventure start to wake up at 03:00 in the morning to take a jeep to Pananjakan Point. And You’ll need to walk the last mile to see the sunrise which does, of course, depend on the weather. Than All being well, you’ll faced with one of the most iconic volcanic vistas on planet earth. From the viewing spot, watch the sun rise with Bromo and Batok smouldering in the crater below, and Java’s highest peak Semeru brooding and smoking in the background. Once it’s light, hike down into the crater and across the famous ‘Sea of Sand’ to peer into the Bromo crater itself . At this point, you can choose to cross the ‘Sea of Sand’ by horseback if you wish.
Return to the hotel for breakfast and check out at around 10.00. It’s a 5 hour drive to Ijen area . Reach in hotel, rest and relax. Free program.
Day 3: Ijen Crater Adventure Tour – Finish Adventure
Wake at 00:00 at midnight to see Mount Ijen’s blue flame panorama at its best. Your guide will pick you up for the one to 1,5 hour drive through plantations and rainforest to the base of Ijen. From the parking lot, start the steep 1,5 hour hike in the dark to reach the peak of Ijen Crater.
There is a tough descent down into the caldera to witness the blue flames and to get down to the spectacular turquoise, acidic lake. Here you’ll need a mask to protect against volcanic fumes.
And Ijen Crater is famous for another reason too. This is the site of a working sulphur mine. Sulphur is extracted and used among other things as a cosmetic. Ingredient to treat acne, seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, eczema and dandruff. The mineral found specifically at the Ijen Crater is known to be purer and more desirable.
Your guide used to be a sulphur miner himself. Because the job is very dangerous, and however running tours up the mountain allowed him to quit that dangerous lifestyle.
Than ascend back to the crater rim to take in the spectacular views that are unfolding as the sun rises, and then start the decent back to car.
